One in Five Marketers Bought B2B Creator Content This Year. On Wednesday, Someone Bought the Agency.
Billion Dollar Boy's first-ever acquisition prices a skill set course creators already own: explaining complicated things to people who buy with a budget.

Billion Dollar Boy spent a decade building a consumer influencer agency and never bought a single company. Its first acquisition is Creator Authority, a B2B creator marketing specialist with LinkedIn accreditation.
The all-cash deal, announced October 14, includes an earnout and was described only as "multimillion-dollar." Creator Authority's team is set to grow from around 15 people to between 30 and 40.
That's a small agency. The number attached to it is not. Following the acquisition, BDB Group forecasts 2027 revenue above $100 million, after 24% global revenue growth in the past 12 months.
The number buried in the press release
BDB commissioned research alongside the deal, and it contains the stat that matters if you sell knowledge to businesses.
In a Censuswide survey of more than 1,000 US and UK marketing decision-makers conducted in September, 20% said they invested in B2B creator marketing in 2026.
Read that twice. One in five already has a line item. Four in five don't yet. The buyers in this deal are underwriting the second number, not the first.
And the product they bought isn't followers. Creator Authority joined the LinkedIn Marketing Partner Program in April and works with clients including Amazon, Adobe, AT&T, IBM, Dropbox, HubSpot, Mastercard and Notion. Those brands are not paying for dance trends. They're paying for people who can make a technical idea land with a buyer.
That is the exact job description of a decent course creator.
LinkedIn built the plumbing first
None of this happens without the platform laying pipe. LinkedIn announced Creator Marketplace and BrandWorks on June 10, 2026, bringing creator discovery into the B2B advertising workflow; the Marketplace is in alpha for select brands and creators in North America, while self-serve BrandLink is available globally.
The discovery logic is the tell: the marketplace is built for "subject matter experts and practitioners," not reach-based influencers.
The money is moving too. BrandLink now shares ad revenue with more than 100 creators and publishers, up from the initial 30 when revenue sharing launched in May 2025. BrandLink revenue rose around 200% quarter-on-quarter in Q2, and creator and publisher payouts more than tripled year-on-year. LinkedIn plans roughly 50 exclusive events with top creators at the start of fiscal 2027, with ambitions to expand the program past 1,000 creators.
The consolidation around it
This is one closing in a crowded quarter. Quartermast Advisors, which advised Creator Authority on the sale, counted 70 creator economy M&A transactions in the first half of 2026, up 23% year-over-year. With 87 acquisitions in all of 2025, Quartermast projects more than 100 deals will close by year-end. Agencies made up 21.4% of H1 volume.
The Billion Dollar Boy deal landed days after Saylor merged with Mutiny and SAMY bought Get Engaged.
The origin story is almost funny given the subject matter. The deal began with a LinkedIn message: in 2023, cofounders Edward East and Thomas Walters were following Brendan Gahan's content about B2B creators, and East arranged an intro call that turned into takeover talks. A man posting about B2B creators on LinkedIn sold his company to someone who found him by reading his LinkedIn posts.
Gahan founded Creator Authority in 2023, after building and selling influencer agency Epic Signal to Mekanism. He will be senior vice president of B2B at Billion Dollar Boy. "It feels like YouTube in 2010; there's this moment when it just explodes, and I'm excited to grow with it," he said.
What this means if you sell a course
B2B creator marketing is a budget line that pays experts to teach in public. If you already run webinars, write breakdowns, and hold attention from people with purchasing authority, there is now a procurement process built for you and an agency layer being bought up to serve it.
The catch is that agency work is active income, the opposite of the evergreen dream. The smarter read is positional: brand-funded distribution on the same platform where your buyers already are, subsidizing the audience you later sell to directly.
Walters said the firm spotted B2B marketing heating up 18 months ago and hinted that more deals are coming.
